Who can submit to The Corral?

Any currently enrolled HSU student, including graduate students.

  
Where do I submit?

We have a Google Form for submissions. You can find the QR code here on our social media and on posters around campus.

   
Can I use AI?

No. The purpose of The Corral is to encourage and affirm the original creativity and work of HSU students. 

   
Does The Corral publish work anonymously?

No, but you can let us know you’d like to use a pen name if your work is accepted.

   
Do I have to write an author biography?

No, but we certainly encourage you to! This way our readers can learn more about the artist behind the work on The Corral.

   
Does The Corral take music submissions?

Yes. For music submissions, post your video on YouTube and submit the link via the submission form. Music submissions should be no longer than ten minutes. We ask for a high-quality video, and dress according to the professional standards of your discipline.

   
Does The Corral take theatrical submissions?

Yes, you can submit a video of you performing pre-existing work or your original work. Theatre submissions should be no longer than ten minutes. We ask for a high-quality video, and dress according to the professional standards of your discipline.

     
Can I submit digital artwork?

Yes! We accept art done in any medium.

    
How many pieces of art or photography can I submit?

Art: up to five.

Photography: up to five.

   
Does The Corral take dance submissions?

We can only accept dance submissions using music without copyright issues.

We ask for a high-quality video, and dress according to the professional standards of your discipline.

   
How will The Corral select which submissions get published?

The editorial staff will review the submissions.

   
Who is on the editorial staff?

The students in the English Senior Professional Practicum class.

  
How will I know if my work is accepted?

Can I submit work that was originally made for a class?

Absolutely! As long as it was created by you and is 100% your original work.

   
How many writing pieces can I submit?

We accept three genres of writing:

Poetry: up to five.

Short Fiction: up to two (2,000 words max per piece).

Creative Short Non-Fiction: up to two (2,000 words max per piece).

   
Can I add The Corral link to my resume?

Yes! We encourage you to use this as a resume-building opportunity.

   
Who is the target audience?

Anyone who wants to see it! Views will likely come primarily from HSU staff, faculty, students, and anyone they send it to.
